Welcome to Lovelly Travels.

My name is Emma Lovell and I’m a traveller.

I’ve been travelling since age two with my parents, but I feel that I truly began my traveller life in 2006 with my first big adventure. 13 months off on my own, living and working and travelling in Europe.

I love anything travel and this blog will contain tales of my adventures over the past ten years, advice and tips and information that I have gathered as I’ve trapesed about the globe!

I’m always keen to talk to other travellers and to share experiences. Please feel free to comment and make suggestions for other readers. Givers gain!

I hope you enjoy this page and it inspires you to get out there, see the world and take your own wonderful adventure!

You can also follow us at @lovellytravels.

A few words that keep me inspired, striving and reaching for my dreams!

There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?

  1. Hi Lovelly,

I’m a volunteer chapter leader for Room to Read in Vancouver, Canada. I look forward to hearing your visits to RTR’s projects in Nepal as I’m planning to do the Annapurna circuit next year (that is where RTR started).

Thank you for mentioning Room to Read in your blog. Did you know that Financial Times has selected Room to Read for their 2009-2010 seasonal appeal. There are lots of stories written in the field about RTR’s work in Laos, India etc. Check it out at

    · This week, Barron’s magazine unveiled their cover story on The 25 Best Givers and John Wood/Room to Read ranked 11th out of 25 worldwide high-impact givers (not necessary based on size of their wallet!) http://online.barrons.com/article/SB125935466529866955.html?mod=BOL_hpp_#articleTabs_panel_article%3D1

  3. I’ve done my bit of travelling for the moment. Having 3 girls has put a stop to travel. I keep persuading them to move to Oz but they’re not having it!!
I think the hardest thing about travelling is actually deciding to do it (but mean it) Don’t get me wrong, travelling at times is so bloody hard you wish you were at home. But that soon passes when you see, smell or hear something you’ve never experienced before. God I miss the travels. I could go on but it’s not my blog!! Take care Em where ever you go & stay safe. Like all other travellers I’ll be thinking of you.
PS I want to go to the airport!!!

    1. What a lovely comment!

      Thanks so much Mark.

Perhaps you can do a guest post for me and re-live those fabulous days of travel.

Definitely send your daughters Down Under and I’ll be waiting with a wealth of advice on how to see the best of Oz. I’m learning the value of knowing your own country.

      1. Emma, it would be an honour to be a guest writer on what it was like travelling 1990 -1991. My time will come. When my girls are grown up a left me, I’m coming back to the Land I Love – Australia. Powers beer a Ute (?) & my driving licence. Worst mistake EVER was leaving Oz. You take care & take loads of snaps & write loads……If you don’t mind Em – You can be my travels?

  4. I almost never leave a response, however i did a few searching and wound up here Adventures of the Traveller
Em | Travelling the world and writing all about it!
. And I actually do have 2 questions for you if you tend not
to mind. Is it just me or does it appear like a few of these
responses come across like left by brain dead visitors?
😛 And, if you are posting at other online sites, I’d like to follow anything new you have to post. Could you list of the complete urls of all your communal sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
