If you go down to the crossroads of roots and soul, you’ll find singer, songwriter and guitarist Charlie A’Court, whose honest purpose in life is to connect people, one emotion at a time. This coming October, Australia will once again be graced with the presence of Canadian artist Charlie A’Court. A’Court returns with his electric and acoustic mix of fabulous guitar riffs, booming vocals and soaring melodies as he continues promotion for his album ‘Sun Is Gonna Shine’ whilst touring the nation with Australian Blues legends Dave Hole and Pete Cornelius.
Fearlessly bridging genres and challenging stylistic conventions, A’Court has toured Canada and abroad, with headline performances at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival (CAN), Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival (CAN), Kerrville Folk Festival (USA) and Woodford Folk Festival (AUS). A’Court has shared the stage with high profile artists including James Cotton, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, George Thorogood, Harry Manx, Martin Sexton, Delbert McClinton, Colin James and Dan Aykroyd, Ian Moss, Diesel, and Ray Beadle.
Winner of the 2003 Best Blues Artist for his debut album ‘Color Me Gone’, 2007 East Coast Music Award for Pop Recording of the Year and 2007 Music Nova Scotia Blues Recording of the Year for his album ‘Bring On The Storm’, Charlie A’Court has walked the line between blues and adult contemporary and is synonymous with impassioned performances that grip an audience the very moment he takes the stage. His 2009 release, ‘Live At The Marigold’, was nominated for Blues Recording of the Year and Male Solo Recording of the Year, while earning him the honour of being named Nova Scotia’s top entertainer at the 2009 Music Nova Scotia Awards.
A’Court has harnessed influences from B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins and Albert King and channeled his inspiration into his latest recording, ‘Sun Is Gonna Shine’ which was winner of the 2103 East Coast Music Awards for both R&B/Soul Recording of the Year and Blues Recording of the Year, and is currently nominated for 2013 Blues Recording of the Year at the upcoming Music Nova Scotia Awards.
This tour will begin on Saturday the 5th of October at the Great Southern Blues Festival in Narooma followed by several dates with Pete Cornelius. A’Court will then join Dave Hole on his tour beginning at The Governor Hindmarsh in Adelaide after which A’Court will head back to Sydney from Friday the 25th of October for three consecutive days at The Sydney Blues & Roots Festival in Windsor. A’Court returns to The Sydney Blues & Roots Festival after wowing the ever-expanding audiences at last year’s festival where he made such an impression, he came out as the top merchandise seller at the festival. Continuing on with Hole, A’Court will head to the Central Coast, Newcastle, Sawtel and will finalise the tour at The Heritage Hotel in Bulli on Sunday the 3rd of November.
