Thrilled to be featured in the St Kilda Leader newspaper about my upcoming Peru Challenge 2012.

In October I’ll be climbing Machu Pichu in Peru with Inspired Adventures for Black Dog Institute to raise awareness for depression and anxiety awareness.

We’re still looking for people to join us and of course I’m looking for the much needed funds to reach my sponsorship total, $4000.

St Kilda woman raises depression awareness

4 JUL 12 @ 03:01PM BY DONNA CARTON

EMMA Lovell is taking on one of the world’s most amazing treks in honour of her grandma.

She will climb Machu Picchu to raise money for the Black Dog Institute and awareness of depression and mood disorders.

“My late grandmother Doris lived with depression most of her life. Grandma lived in a time where we had little information or awareness about depression. People didn’t talk about it. It was taboo,” Ms Lovell said.

Ms Lovell, who is participating in the Peru Challenge, must raise $4,000 before the big trip on October 20.

The funds raised willhelp with the Black Dog Institute’s community programs.

“The Institute’s mission is to advance the understanding, diagnosis and management of mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder.

“Depression and anxiety is something that I have personally experienced and I really feels for those who continue to live with it,” Ms Lovell said.
