Although 24 is not normally considered a “special” birthday, for me this year, it is extremely special. My birthday is just 3.5 weeks before I embark on the biggest challenge and adventure of my life – climbing Mt Kilimanjaro for Alzheimer’s Australia NSW.

Most birthdays I ask for no presents, and say “Your presence is the present” but this year I’m not only asking and requesting, but I’m demanding presents.

I’m asking EVERYONE to donate to my online fundraising page

Donations over $2 are tax deductible and they will go directly to Alzheimer’s Australia NSW. Donations will help Alzheimer’s provdide services for carers and families living with dimentia. They also help in raising awreness and educating people about the preventative ways to stop the onset of Alzheiemer’s. Prevention is better than a cure.

The donation means a lot to me and really will be a big source of encouragement for this big challenge. I will know that people are supporting me to reach the goal and are behind me as I walk up the mighty mountain.

I’ve already received birthday presents from my family throughout the year of hiking gear, my boots and some of my travel arrangements. I’m spoilt really.

So for me, this is a birthday to look forward to! By the way, it’s august 20th !

I will be taking on my biggest Adventure yet, Climbing Kilimanjaro for Alzheimer’s Australia NSW!  I will Climb Kilimanjaro in honour of my Grandpa who passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2008. I was in Africa when I found out and I said at the time I would one day do this for him, in his memory! We are raising money for Alzheimer’s Australia NSW to raise awareness and the necessary funds for prevention of the disease that affects so many. Dementia is the third leading cause of death in Australia, after heart disease and stroke. We must prevent and find a cure as it’s not a normal part of aging, and does affect 100,000’s of Australians.

Help me reach my $10.000 target by donating to my online fundraising page:
