HOLA MEXICO Film Festival, Australia ’09

Opens TODAY!

The Hola Mexico Film Festival opens November 18 in Sydney at the DENDY Newtown and Opera Quays. The festival will run from the 18th-29th November before kicking on to Canberra and the other major cities of Australia.

The Festival is a fine showcase of Mexican film making which celebrates the intriguing, enticing and amazing culture of Mexico. The wide variety of films gives patrons the chance to experience Mexico through comedy, drama,  animated and documentary style cinematic techniques.

I was first drawn to this event by the awesome graphics and colours on the poster which are so typically Mexican. Having studied in Mexico for 4 months earlier this year I am now captivated by anything that emits even the slightest bit of Mexico’s dynamic and vibrant culture.

Some of the films on show include Sin Nombre, Otra Pelicula de huevos y un Pollo (Another Egg Movie and a Chicken), and Oveja Negra (Black Sheep). I will be seeing Amor, Dolor y ViceVersa (Love, Pain and Viceversa) on thursday –  a tale of the search for love. I can’t wait.

So check out the schedules at http://www.holamexicoff.com/09-AU/sydney/index.html.

It’s also a fabulous website with great graphics and funky Mexican tunes!

The Film Festival will also be in CANBERRA, BRISBANE, ADELAIDE, PERTH AND MELBOURNE. So no matter where you are in Australia, try and get to one of the films for a night at the cinema with a twist!

Espero que disfruten del espectáculo!

*All films will be in Spanish with english subtitles.
